Should you want more privacy than the lodge, you will find space in the sitting area with leather sofa, chairs and a writing desk. Walk up 3 steps and you will find your bedroom consisting of brushed aluminum-frame beds with comforter and down pillows, wardrobe with robes and slippers. Off the bedroom is the en-suite with a soaking tub, shower and double vanity along with hair dryer, locally sourced toiletries, bottled water and oversized towels…a touch of indulgence in the bush!
All of the tents are spaced far enough apart for privacy with verandahs overlooking the Lobo Valley. Your choice as to whether you prefer to enjoy the stunning views in the solitude of your tent or in the company of others at the main lodge.
The lodge houses the bar, stocked with fine wines and liquor, a lounging area, art area with easels and paints, small library and the dining room where delicious, gourmet meals will be served. Please note various dietary needs can be accommodated – advance notice is appreciated.
Conservation is a way of life in the bush. You will have plenty of hot water, 24-hours of electricity and all the luxuries you expect while eco-friendly measures are incorporated behind the scenes.
Buffalo Luxury Camp is dedicated to employee well being and supporting the local community. The camp boutique is operated on behalf of a group of 15 Maasai women hailing from several different communities that make up the nearby village of Ololosokwan. The women are widowed or single mothers and entirely dependent upon the income they are able to generate from the crafts they sell in the boutique. Each woman’s photograph and life story is attached to her crafts for sale. Arrangements can be made for guests to meet these women should there be an interest.

Activities

Off-road Driving
It’s always thrilling to spot lions, leopards and cheetahs and even more exhilarating to be able to drive as close as possible…without disturbing them of course. Inside the Serengeti, your driver will be fined if he is spotted doing so.
Night Drives
Load into our open-sided Toyota Land Cruiser with stylish, warm blankets and head out in the eerie dark of night under the moonlight and stars. Your Maasai guide will be in his tracker’s chair mounted on the vehicle front with his floodlight sweeping for reflective eyes of predators. One never knows what will be lurking in the dark, but it is guaranteed to be electrifying and unlike your daytime game drives. Night drives are not allowed inside the Serengeti.
Walking Safaris
Explore on foot with your armed Ranger and Maasai tracker. Learn about their medicinal plants, how to start a fire with sticks, and any wildlife you might encounter. Walking safaris are not allowed in the Serengeti.
Sundowners and Boma Dinner
Perched on a hill above the tents and overlooking the Serengeti, you will marvel at the setting sun as you sit around the bonfire with drinks of your choice and tasty hors d’oeuvres. After cocktails, with fire blazing, moon shining and stars twinkling, you will enjoy a traditional African dinner within the confines of a traditional Maasai boma built with acacia branches. Bonfires are not allowed inside the Serengeti proper.
Additional Activities
Maasai Cultural Community Interactions: unlike many Northern Serengeti safari circuit Maasai tribes, the Ololosokwan tribe remains unaffected by large-scale tourism. They welcome the few visitors they do receive and are always enthusiastic about sharing their way of life and customs. Interactions for all ages can be arranged including having your child herd sheep with the Maasai boys, which is sure to be a life-changing experience. Don’t worry; a driver/guide will be discreetly supervising.
Balloon Safaris
Now available from the Lobo area operated by Adventures Aloft Serengeti with two, A415 balloons from Cameroon Balloons that have a flying capacity of 16 passengers.
Children’s Activities
Whether your child is interested in learning how to identify wildlife via tracks and dung, learn about stars in the southern hemisphere, or draw the wildlife seen during safari drives, the staff at Buffalo Luxury Camp is eager to design activities that will entertain and delight children of all ages.
